Deciding on which tattoo you want is a very serious decission - you can't change your mind afterwards, so please take your time and give everything due consideration. Some people prefer to get their design in a temporary tattoo to wear first - see if they really like it on them - they always look different on the computer screen or in a book. This approach is highly recomended. Good luck in finding the design that is perfect for YOU!

Tattoo Placement

September 26th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in arm tattoos

I have written about tattoo placement once before but I wanted to touch on the subject again. Like I said before there are endless places on your body where you can get a tattoo. But when you have made the decision to get a tattoo, deciding where it should go on your body is just as important. For instance, if you dont want to be preceived as trashy than getting a tattoo on your arm or some other highly visible place is probably not a good idea. If you are wanting a tattoo to express your sexiness than the lower back or somewhere more private would be a great place. And Im not sure about everyone else out there but I think tattoos that are on the back of necks are sexy.

So if you keep those sort of things in mind it could help you decided where to get inked. Or if the placement really doesnt matter to you than you have a whole heck of a lot other places to choose from on your body. Just keep in mind getting a tattoo in a place that can be covered up is a huge plus. Trying to land a new job when you are older and wiser having those very visible tattoos might cost you the job. Which I think is ridiculous but todays society still views tattoos as a no no and unprofessional.

Also like I have said before if this will be your first tattoo try not to get something that is huge and crazy. The main reason is a ton of people regret their first tattoo and you dont want to be stuck with the huge tattoo the rest of your life, if you turn out to regret it later on down the road.

There Is A New Record For Tattooing

September 25th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in arm tattoos

A tattoo artist in Tyler Texas decided to try and attempt to beat the Guinness World Records of giving the most tattoos in one day. Derek Kastning, who is a tattoo artist at Rat-a-Tac-Tat Tattoos started to attempt his goal of breaking the tattooing record at 1 P.M. on October 25. His only concern about beating the world record was that he would run out of people to tattoo during the 24 hour time frame. Surprisingly, he did not have this problem as hundreds of people waited in line outside the building to be part of this great tattooing event. When midnight rolled around they realized they had already beaten the record but wanted to keep going. So at 1 P.M on October 26, Derek Kastning tattooed his last tattoo making the new tattooing world record of 726 tattoos in a 24 hour period.

I think this is so cool and how awesome it is for those people who were able to get tattooed during that 24 hour time frame. Although I bet that guys arms, hands, neck and every other muscle in his body ached when he was done at the end of the day. Anyways I just thought this was pretty neat and wanted to share this with all of my fellow tattoo lovers out there. I wonder if this guy gave some sort of discount or something for the people who helped him achieve this awesome goal? If not, I think he should have, after all he wouldnt have been able to do it without willing participates to tattoo.

So You Want a Tattoo

September 25th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in butterfly tattoos

So you have made the decision to get a tattoo, that is great, but there are a couple things you need to think about before you set off and get inked. The biggest decision you need to make is what kind of tattoo you are going to get. Did you know that nearly 35% of people regret their first tattoo? Well I hate to say that I fall into that category. I dont necessarily regret my first tattoo, but I dont exactly like it anymore. So you need to be 110% sure you will be okay having this tattoo on your body for the rest of your life. Secondly, if this will be your first tattoo try not to go over board with it, ie dont get something extremely huge that covers a large area of your body.

The second decision you need to make is where to get the tattoo on your body. Of course the places are literally endless. If you dont handle pain very well be for warned that it does hurt, its no completely painless. If you are concerned about the pain, then consider getting a tattoo on your shoulder blade, the one I go there hardly hurt at all. Also for you guys out there, I hear that the top of your arm doesnt hurt either, I personally cant vouch for that because I dont have on there. But women please listen up to this, especially you teenage girls out there. You may want to triple think getting a tattoo on your stomach or pelvic area because if you decided to have children one day that little butterfly you have down there may turn into some hideous stretched out ugly mess.

If you are having trouble finding the perfect somthing to have inked on your body. You can always sit down with a tattoo artist and have them draw you up one or you can check out Infinte Tattoos and look through the hundreds of tattoo designs that are featured on the site.

Celebirty Tattoos: Tommy Lee

September 10th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in dragon tattoos

Its time for another edition of celebrity tattoo. Today I decided to do Tommy Lee, mainly because I have been watching this show called Battleground Earth that comes on the Green Channel that stars Tommy Lee and Ludacris. I think it is safe to say that we all know that Tommy Lee pretty much has half if not more than half of his body covered in tattoos.

However, I wasnt able to find a list of all the tattoos Tommy has, Tommy himself has even lost count. But I do know that he has Mayhem tattooed across his stomach, he has an ex-girlfriends lips tattooed on his neck. He has Brandon on one wrist and Dylan on another. Interesting note, he had both Brandon and Dylan write their names out and he took those to a tattoo artist and had him tattoo them on his wrist. And he has a huge tribal design covering almost all of his back. He also has two stars on each hand. This is pretty much all I know. Because the tattoo sleeves he has on his arms are pretty hard to make out. He also has several tattoos on his legs too but Im not too sure what they are.

Tommy recently developed a clothing line called TL for PL and guess what the inspiration of his clothing line was? His Tattoos.

I lost count a long time ago of how many I have. Theyre all beautiful things. I love animals, and so there is everything from koi fish to leopards. There are cherry blossoms. I love flowers. There are dragons. There is fire and water. These are things that I will always love to look at, and hopefully people will love to wear.

Know All About the History of Tatuaggi Maori or Maori Tattoo

September 2nd, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in dragon tattoos

Polynesia is a general term which meant many islands with its present day geographical territory at the triangular corners of Hawaii, New Zealand and the Eastern Island. It has a clear division among itself and comprises of east and west Polynesia with Cook Island and the Tahiti being the primary ones. The cultural aspect which dominated the Polynesian people was body art or decoration.

This practice of body art among the Polynesian people slowly spread among the European sailors before creating a major impact on the western society in the form of tattoo. Tattoo is a permanent ink marking into the skin layers which changes the pigmentation and its done mostly for decorative reasons. Although tattooing has faced much taboo but it still continues to be a globally acclaimed popular art. Tattoos have served several purposes like status symbol or rank of an individual, symbols of spiritual and religious devotion, talismans or as a mark of an outcast, slaves or convicts. Nowadays tattoos are mostly used for cosmetic reasons or for showing some kind of emotional or remembrance gesture. The dyes and pigments used for tattooing are materials like titanium di oxide and iron oxide or for that matter even carbon black, azo dyes, acridine or even quinoline.

Tattoos are often grouped by the theme, the most prevalent among them being alien, ambigram, anchor, extreme, Maori, tribal or flash tattoos. However there are others like Aztec, kanji, eye and gargoyle. Using a paper or cardboard for imprinting or drawing a design is the sole theme of tattoo flash and it may be regarded as a species of industrial design. Tattoo parlours often sport them on the walls or on the entrance gateway giving the prospective customers a vivid idea of the tattoos. Mostly found on an 11*14 inch print, it may or may not come with an outline. Some common flash symbols are anchor, Bettie page which is a symbol of beauty, barbed wire, heart, dragon or the carp fish which appears in traditional Chinese or Japanese legends and stories. Maoris are the original inhabitants of New Zealand and with them comes the word Maori tattoo which has withstood not only time but also colonization by the Europeans. These Maori tattoos or tatuaggi maori were a symbol of genealogy, tribal history and often marks of beauty or ferocity. Sometimes called Ta Moko it was mostly a facial form of tattoo though the global surge in the tattoo industry and the urge to be fashionable has made people wear them on all parts of the body. It wasnt merely worn by the person in the ink form but predominantly the skin was chiseled for this purpose. Old tribes like the Celtic, Haida and the tribe of Borneo practiced this form of tribal tattoo or tatuaggi tribali. New tribalism is the remnants of the glorious past which has been traced back to the Bronze Age. They mainly demonstrate pieces of art form from native and indigenous tribe with an inclination towards personal or religious convictions. For its unique look tribal tattoo has become one of the most popular designs with celebrities like Mike Tyson, Sandra Bullock and Dwayne Johnson donning them.

This once dying art of the Polynesians have now become a fashion statement and many style icons are hugely acknowledged due to the bold and beautiful tattoo they wear on them differentiating them from the rest.

Maurizio Boraso is the author of this article on disegni tatuaggi. Find more information relating to tattoo flash, and tatuaggi maori here.
